ESL English as a Second Language

The ESL classroom supports an English-only environment. International students benefit from the English immersion experience inside the classroom. Outside the classroom, students at the Arizona Language Center practice English reading, speaking and listening skills through the many opportunities to participate in the local culture by visiting the restaurants, shops, theaters and art galleries that are within walking distance of the center. Guided tours of the Grand Canyon, Native American cultural sites and the High Sonoran Desert are a few favorite English language immersion activities.

International Business English Course

This course is designed for executives, managers, and professionals who are motivated to succeed communicating in the business world. 

• Taught by experienced corporate language trainers, courses are customized to meet individual corporate objectives.

• Course content is tailored to meet each participant's everyday English language needs with job-specific language function and vocabulary at an appropriate level. One-on-one or small group classes are trained to advance English communication skills and Beginner, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate and Advanced levels are offered.

• The Business English Course is customized to the specific language needs of each corporate trainee.

An English placement test evaluates English skill levels. Participants with the same skills study together. A needs assessment is then administered to obtain each student’s individual goals, learning style and training needs.

The Business English Course is two-week intensive training program that includes 80 hours of classroom instruction. The course takes place with prior reservation, every two weeks,  at the language training center in Historic Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona.

 

English Pronunciation & Grammar

English classes are available for all skill levels in grammar, conversation and pronunciation. Students develop English language skills for real situations with the help of ALC`s intensive English courses. English grammar is taught in a communicative manner with an emphasis on using the structures orally. Communicative methodology is also used to develop English vocabulary, idioms and pronunciation. Attendance and homework assignments are significant ingredients to success at the Arizona Language Center.

 

Beginner English   This course is designed for students who are new to the English language. Instruction will include an introduction to the English alphabet, building a basic vocabulary of English words and using English in everyday situations. Beginner Level Class - Saturday Mornings   Intermediate English   This course is designed for students who have completed the Beginner English Course or for students who have some knowledge of the English language. Students who have studied English in the past and those who speak and understand some basic English will be comfortable in this course.   Advanced English   This course is designed for students who have completed the Intermediate English Course and for students who have knowledge of most English language concepts who are working towards fluency.

Pronunciation / Accent Reduction English Course   The English Pronunciation / Accent Reduction Course offered by Arizona Language Center in Scottsdale focuses on American English pronunciation. Students will learn how to pronounce each sound in the English language. Students will learn how position their lips, teeth, and tongue to form words that are selected for practice. Correct pronunciation is the focus of the class and students will interact in guided conversation with others in the classroom. *Note: English is the only language spoken in the classroom.
